 SPC 1200Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1147
PM CST Mon Jan 14 2019
Valid 151200Z - 161200Z
...NO THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST...
...SUMMARY... Thunderstorm potential should remain low across the
country Tuesday.
...Southwestern US...
Late-evening water-vapor imagery suggests a mid-level circulation
is located near 38n/128w with a trough extending south across the
eastern Pacific. One notable short-wave trough will eject from the
base of this trough toward the lower CO River Valley by 16/00z.
Large-scale forcing for ascent will likely induce weak elevated
convection ahead of this feature as mid-level lapse rates steepen
north of the primary jet axis. Even so, forecast buoyancy is quite
weak and it appears convection will not be deep enough to penetrate
levels necessary for meaningful lightning threat. For these reasons
thunder probabilities will remain less than 10%.

 SPC 0700Z Day 2 Outlook
Day 2 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1127
PM CST Mon Jan 14 2019
Valid 161200Z - 171200Z
...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST...
...SUMMARY... Isolated thunderstorms are likely late Wednesday
across parts of northern and central California.
...Synopsis and Discussion... A deep low pressure system will
approach the coastal waters of the Pacific Northwest Wednesday night
with a general increase in moisture across much of the West ahead
of the upper low. The strongest lift as well as cooling aloft will
occur over central and northern CA during the evening and overnight
when elevated instability materializes. Forecast soundings suggest
surface-based CAPE will be weak, but the heavier convective elements
may induce gusty winds in the higher terrain as 850 mb winds increase
to over 50 kt.
Elsewhere, generally dry air across the central and eastern states
will maintain stable conditions with no threat of thunderstorms.
...MAXIMUM RISK BY HAZARD... Tornado: <2% - None Wind: <5%
- None Hail: <5% - None
