 SPC 1200Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1121
PM CST Thu Dec 05 2019
Valid 061200Z - 071200Z
...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST...
...SUMMARY... Severe thunderstorms are not forecast across the
contiguous United States through tonight.
...Synopsis... A progressive flow regime will characterize the
upper-air pattern today as a mid-level shortwave trough moves from
the lower MS Valley east to the northeast of the Bahamas by late
tonight. A mid-level low over the east Pacific will slowly migrate
east towards the northern CA/OR coast. Weak and primarily elevated
thunderstorms are possible during the morning and perhaps lingering
into the early afternoon over parts of MS/AL before diminishing.
Farther west, scant instability associated with cold temperatures
in the midlevels will favor intermittent lightning flashes with
convection over northern CA.

 SPC 0700Z Day 2 Outlook
Day 2 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1124
PM CST Thu Dec 05 2019
Valid 071200Z - 081200Z
...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST...
...SUMMARY... Showers and occasional lightning will spread across
portions of the California vicinity on Saturday.
...Synopsis... In the wake of a broad trough expected to be off the
East Coast by early Saturday, the overall upper pattern is expected
to trend more zonal across the much of CONUS as strong westerly flow
aloft spreads eastward ahead of a broad upper trough gradually moving
across western/central Canada and the western US. Some amplification
is possible across the western CONUS late Saturday/early Sunday
as embedded shortwave trough moving into northern CA phases with
another shortwave moving through western Canada.
Cool and/or stable conditions are anticipated across the
majority of the Lower 48 states. The only exception will be across
northern/central CA and adjacent southwest OR where cold mid-level
temperatures and resulting steep lapse rates will support modest
instability and updrafts deep enough for charge separation. Small
hail is also possible within the more persistent deep updrafts.
...MAXIMUM RISK BY HAZARD... Tornado: <2% - None Wind: <5%
- None Hail: <5% - None

SPC Day 1 Fire Weather Outlook
Day 1 Fire Weather Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1127 PM CST Thu Dec 05 2019
Valid 061200Z - 071200Z
...NO CRITICAL AREAS...
...Synopsis... A mid-level trough will be ejecting into the
Atlantic, with a mid-level ridge moving over the central CONUS, and
a second mid-level trough moving ashore along the West Coast. At
the surface, high pressure will dominate much of the central and
northern CONUS, with precipitation expected across the eastern and
western CONUS.
Fuels are marginally supportive of widespread, large wildfire
spreads across most of the lower 48, with patchy areas of locally
receptive fuels noted across portions of the central Plains and the
Southeast. Still, cooler temperatures in the Plains, along with
precipitation in the southeast, preclude large wildfire-spread
potential concerns at this time.

SPC Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1127 PM CST Thu Dec 05 2019
Valid 071200Z - 081200Z
...NO CRITICAL AREAS...
...Synopsis... A mid-level trough will continue to move across the
western CONUS, with mainly zonal flow aloft expected across the
rest of the lower 48 for the Day 2/Saturday period. Surface high
pressure and associated cool temperatures will continue to dominate
much of the CONUS, with the exception of the southern High Plains,
where southerly flow will accompany a surface lee-trough. Very
brief/localized elevated surface wind/RH conditions may be observed
along the Colorado/New Mexico/Oklahoma Panhandle areas Saturday
afternoon, but an elevated area appears unwarranted at this time,
given the very marginal fuels and brevity of aforementioned surface
conditions.
