...SUMMARY... A couple of thunderstorms could occur near the
Alabama and Florida Panhandle coasts.
...Synopsis... A longwave trough east of the Rockies will maintain
cold/stable conditions across the Lower 48. A low-amplitude
shortwave trough is forecast to move through the base of the
larger-scale trough and move east across the Gulf Coast and
Southeast. A couple of weak thunderstorms are possible near a cold
front as it pushes across the central and northeastern Gulf Coast.

...SUMMARY... A few thunderstorms may develop along the central
California coast during the latter half of the day2 period.

Short-range model guidance continues to suggest a well-defined upper
low will approach the central CA coast during the latter half of the
period. Significant cooling at mid levels will allow lapse rates to
steepen near the upper low which should allow weak elevated buoyancy
to develop immediately ahead of the upper low. Forecast soundings
in SFO Bay area suggest mid-level moistening, within exit region
of speed max, will allow weak instability to develop and parcels
lifted near 700mb may be buoyant enough for a few lighting strikes
with frontal convection.

...Synopsis... A powerful longwave trough centered over Great
Lakes will reinforce broadly cyclonic flow aloft across much of
the central and eastern CONUS today. Meanwhile at the surface,
relatively cool/cold conditions will persist in response to a
1036 mb high centered over the Dakotas and another 1028 mb high
centered over the central Rockies. The cold surface conditions
and minimal wind fields in dry areas of the Southwest will preclude
any large-scale fire weather concerns today.

...NO CRITICAL AREAS...
...Synopsis... A quiet fire weather pattern will persist
into D2/Wednesday. A longwave trough initially centered over
the Great Lakes will begin to shift eastward while large-scale
ridging develops across the West. A weak shortwave trough will
migrate toward southern California and vicinity. Meanwhile at the
surface, the high responsible for very cold weather across much
of the central and eastern CONUS will shift eastward, while lee
troughing and a return-flow pattern sets up across southern Texas.
Onshore flow will also persist across southern California throughout
the forecast period. Lack of flow in dry areas of the Plains will
preclude highlights for this outlook.
