URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Severe Thunderstorm Watch

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Southwest Texas
* Effective this Monday afternoon and evening from 310 PM until
900 PM CDT.
* Primary threats include... Scattered large hail and isolated
very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible Isolated
damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
SUMMARY...Isolated thunderstorms are developing east of the Davis
Mountains this afternoon, and a couple of these storms are expected
to evolve into splitting supercells with an attendant threat for
large hail and isolated severe outflow winds through this evening.
The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 35
statute miles east and west of a line from 115 miles north northeast
of Dryden TX to 20 miles west southwest of Dryden TX. For a complete

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
AVIATION...A few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft to
2 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60 knots. A
few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 550. Mean storm motion vector
32015.

...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PARTS
OF WEST TEXAS...
...SUMMARY... A few strong, to locally severe, thunderstorms will
persist across parts of west Texas this evening.
...West TX...
Thunderstorms that initiated due to intense boundary-layer heating
over the Trans Pecos region have since propagated off the dryline.
The primary cluster of storms has turned southeast and is now mostly
south of the Rio Grande River in northern Mexico. 00z sounding from
DRT exhibits strong instability, but is quite capped. With little
reason for this cap to weaken, convection should mainly stay west of
the international border, though strong storms could spread across
near-border regions of Val Verde and Kinney Counties.
Farther north, left-moving supercell has progressed into
the northeastern portion of ww149 over Sterling County. Strong
convection may continue to lift northeast across this part of west
TX as LLJ strengthens across the southern High Plains. Even so,
this activity should remain quite isolated and generally less
intense than late-afternoon convection.
