SPC 0100Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0745
PM CDT Thu Apr 30 2020
Valid 010100Z - 011200Z
...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FROM SOUTHEAST
IDAHO INTO WESTERN WYOMING...
...SUMMARY... A few strong to severe storms capable of large hail
and locally damaging gusts may persist from southeast Idaho to
western Wyoming through about 02Z, followed by a diminishing trend.
...Southeast Idaho through western Wyoming...
A few strong to severe thunderstorms remain across southeast ID
this evening. This activity is developing along a cold front and in
association with a progressive shortwave trough. Updraft bases are
rooted around 700 mb with MLCAPE between 400-800 J/kg, and storms
are embedded within 35-40 kt unidirectional 0-6 km shear. Activity
will continue east into western WY where instability decreases
substantially due to the effects of earlier clouds and showers. This
suggests a gradual diminishing trend should commence by 02Z.
