The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of South central North
Carolina Northeast South Carolina Coastal Waters
* Effective this Tuesday night and Wednesday morning from 845 PM
until 100 AM EDT.
* Primary threats include... Isolated very large hail events to
2 inches in diameter possible Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70
mph possible
SUMMARY...Clusters of supercells along a front will continue to
move east-southeastward through early tonight, with other storms to
the west following a similar path before weakening later tonight.
In the meantime, large hail and damaging winds can be expected with
the strongest storms.
The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 35
statute miles north and south of a line from 5 miles northwest of
Florence SC to 20 miles southeast of Wilmington NC. For a complete

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Southern North Carolina
Northern South Carolina
* Effective this Tuesday afternoon and evening from 355 PM until
1100 PM EDT.
* Primary threats include... Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70
mph likely Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events
to 2 inches in diameter possible A tornado or two possible
SUMMARY...A cluster of thunderstorms over western North Carolina
will track eastward along a warm front, affecting the watch area
this afternoon and evening. Locally damaging wind gusts and hail
are possible in the strongest cells. An isolated tornado is also
possible.
The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60
statute miles north and south of a line from 50 miles northwest of
Anderson SC to 45 miles east of Fayetteville NC. For a complete

...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER PORTIONS OF
THE CAROLINAS...
...SUMMARY... Severe threat is expected to linger along the South
Carolina/North Carolina border this evening. Hail and wind are the
primary threats, though some tornado threat remains.
...Carolinas...
Weak surface low is repositioning itself along the wedge front along
the NC/SC border. This low should track along the boundary to near
the Atlantic Coast by 06z. Very stable boundary-layer conditions
exist along the cool side of the wind shift and for this reason it
appears ongoing robust convection should propagate east-southeast
toward the southern NC Coast. While 00z sounding from CHS was
notably capped, steep lapse rates are evident at mid levels and
this should prove beneficial for ongoing thunderstorms along the
frontal corridor. For these reasons, have extended higher severe
probs along the wind shift into southern NC.
