 SPC 0100Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0748
PM CDT Sat May 09 2020
Valid 100100Z - 101200Z
...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST...
...SUMMARY... Organized severe thunderstorms are not forecast
tonight across the Lower 48 states.
...FL Keys late tonight into early Sunday morning... A mid-level
shortwave trough over the western Gulf of Mexico will move slowly
eastward tonight into the central part of the Gulf and approach FL.
The low-level response to the mid-level feature is not forecast to be
particularly notable, with weak easterly low-level flow generally
forecast across the FL Straits northward into the continental
shelf. Isolated to widely scattered showers/thunderstorms will
spread into the Keys late tonight and into early Sunday morning.
Forecast soundings show poor lapse rates/weak CAPE despite a
relatively moist boundary layer. For the above mentioned reasons,
the forecast expectation is general thunderstorms across this region.
