SPC 0100Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0653
PM CST Mon Feb 22 2021
Valid 230100Z - 231200Z
...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST...
...SUMMARY... A couple thunderstorms remain possible across portions
of the Florida Peninsula through tonight.
...Synopsis... A cold front has moved offshore across much of the
Mid Atlantic Coastline, diminishing thunderstorm chances across the
area. Farther south across FL, a diffuse cold front continues to
slowly sag southward across central portions of the Peninsula. While
the 00Z TBW modified sounding samples up to 400 J/kg MUCAPE, weak
convergence has resulted in little thunderstorm development so far.
With the upper trough and associated surface lee trough ejecting
out into the Atlantic, away from the Florida Peninsula, deep-layer
ascent is expected to only weaken with time. As such, the general
thunder area across FL has been constricted to the immediate
vicinity of strongest low-level convergence with the cold front,
and where some buoyancy (albeit mediocre) remains in place.
