 SPC 0100Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0653
PM CST Tue Mar 02 2021
Valid 030100Z - 031200Z
...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST...
...SUMMARY... Showers and a few thunderstorms will continue tonight,
from the mouth of the Mississippi River east-northeastward to
southern South Carolina and northern Florida.
...Discussion... Widespread rain/rain showers continue across a
large portion of the Southeast at this time, with a few embedded
thunderstorms from the northeastern Gulf of Mexico eastward to the
Gulf Stream off the South Carolina/Georgia/northern Florida coasts.
The convection is occurring near and to the north of the west-to-east
surface cool front, and an associated frontal wave southeast of
the mouth of the Mississippi River that is moving eastward toward
northern Florida.
The convection is ongoing within a zone of low-level warm
advection/QG forcing, and will continue as the parent upper low
crosses the Mid South/central Gulf Coast states this evening, before
reach Georgia late. With instability weak, and convection largely
rooted above a shallow, stable boundary layer, severe storms are
not expected.
..Goss.. 03/03/2021
