Lightning has proven sparse with convection across the lower MS
Valley and east TX into the early evening hours. At 00z, a few
thunderstorms were noted south of SHV immediately ahead of the
mid-level trough where sustained forcing was a bit stronger than over
the Coastal Plain of TX. One sustained shower, with a few flashes of
lightning, has developed just southeast of HOU ahead of the front,
but this convection should quickly move off the upper TX Coast in
the next half hour or so. Otherwise, elevated convection should
primarily focus downstream across LA, along a narrow corridor,
as this region remains ahead of the short-wave trough.
