...NO THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST...
...SUMMARY... The risk for thunderstorms appears negligible across
the U.S. tonight.
...01Z Outlook Update... Daytime heating beneath a cold (-22
to -32 C around 500 mb) mid-level trough has contributed to
weak boundary-layer destabilization across much of the northern
U.S. intermountain region and Great Basin into northern Rockies.
However, lightning producing convection has been sparse, and
generally confined to a narrow corridor along and in the immediate
wake of the associated surface frontal zone, across parts of
Wyoming and Utah into Nevada. And even this activity appears to
have diminished.
Although plumes of deepening convective development are still evident
near the western flank of the mid-level troughing, across parts
of eastern Washington, Oregon and adjacent portions of California
and Nevada, the tendency for warming aloft, coupled with the onset
of diurnal cooling within the next hour or two, will limit the
potential for intensification into thunderstorms.
