...SUMMARY...
Thunderstorms are possible over a large part of the High Plains this
evening but organized severe thunderstorms are not forecast tonight.
...Synopsis...
Water-vapor imagery this evening shows a mid-level trough over the
East with a ridge over the Upper Midwest.A mid-level shortwave
trough was located over eastern MT and is forecast to move into ND
later tonight.Thunderstorms will likely persist through the
evening across the north-central High Plains given adequate
moisture/instability and large-scale ascent afforded by the
mid-level disturbance.Relatively warm mid-level temperatures noted
on the Rapid City, SD 00z raob will likely limit hail potential when
combined with gradual cooling this evening.Nonetheless, a strong
gust/hail cannot be ruled out but storm activity will likely weaken
by mid evening.Elsewhere, widely scattered showers/thunderstorms
over parts of the Interior West and Gulf Coast/Atlantic coastal
areas will slowly diminish during the evening.
