...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FROM CENTRAL
NORTH DAKOTA INTO NORTHWEST MINNESOTA...
...SUMMARY... Isolated severe hail or damaging gusts remain possible
for a couple more hours this evening over central and eastern North
Dakota, and perhaps into northwest Minnesota.
...North Dakota... A front currently extends from northeast MT
across northern ND, with hot temperatures across eastern MT and the
western Dakotas. Low-level warm advection and convergence have
helped initiate a cluster of storms over northeastern ND, with
a few currently strong to severe. With only weak low-level flow
impinging on the boundary and increasing CIN this evening, these
cells are likely diurnally driven, with weakening expected by around
03Z or 04Z. Until then, steep lapse rates as well as around 35 kt
effective bulk shear will support isolated hail and damaging gusts.
For more information, see mesoscale discussion 1318.
...South-central/Southeast TX... Although the air mass remains
unstable ahead of a weak east-west oriented boundary, storms have
only produced 20-30 kt gusts at reporting stations. Given weak
shear and loss of heating, it appears any marginal gust threat
will continue to dwindle this evening. Thus, probabilities have
been removed.
