Day 1 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0751 PM CDT Fri Jul 30 2021
Valid 310100Z - 311200Z
...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FROM NEBRASKA INTO
SOUTHWEST IOWA AND NORTHERN MISSOURI...
...SUMMARY...
Thunderstorms may become capable of producing several instances of
damaging wind later this evening into the overnight from Nebraska
through southwestern Iowa into northern Missouri. A tornado or two
cannot be ruled out over Nebraska this evening.
...Central Plains through middle Mississippi Valley areas...
Isentropic ascent resulting from a strengthening southwesterly
low-level jet should continue to foster the development of
thunderstorms north of a warm front from NE into western and
southern IA and northern MO tonight. Most of the initial storms have
been discrete with some supercell characteristics. Weak lapse rates
and a tendency for updrafts to become slightly elevated as the
surface layer cools will remain limiting factors. Storms may
eventually evolve into one or more organized line segments which
will increase the potential for isolated damaging wind as they
spread southeast this evening into the overnight.
