SPC 0100Z Day 1 Outlook

Day 1 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0759 PM CDT Sat Oct 29 2022

Valid 300100Z - 301200Z

...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FROM EXTREME
SOUTHEAST MS INTO SOUTHWEST AL...

...SUMMARY...
A few tornadoes and isolated damaging winds remain possible across
parts of the central Gulf Coast region into late evening.

...Extreme southeast MS/Southwest AL/Extreme western FL Panhandle...

Several small supercells are ongoing this evening from extreme
southeast MS into southwest AL and adjacent coastal waters, within
an environment characterized by rich low-level moisture (dewpoints
in the low 70s F), weak buoyancy (MLCAPE of 500-1000 J/kg), and
favorably veering low-level wind profiles (effective SRH in excess
of 200 m2/s2). This environment will continue to support the
potential of a few brief tornadoes this evening across the gradually
shrinking effective warm sector. Locally damaging gusts will also be
possible, both with the discrete cells and potentially with the more
linear convection now moving across extreme southeast MS. See MCD
1912 for more information regarding the short-term threat across
southwest AL.

A gradual weakening trend is expected with time later this evening,
as the effective warm sector continues to shrink and the stronger
low-level flow and large-scale ascent gradually lifts north of the
region, in conjunction with a weakening midlevel cyclone moving
northeastward across AR.
