SPC MD 1987
MD 1987 CONCERNING TORNADO WATCH 574...575... FOR SOUTHERN TO
EAST-CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI
Mesoscale Discussion 1987
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0921 PM CST Tue Nov 29 2022
Areas affected...southern to east-central Mississippi
Concerning...Tornado Watch 574...575...
Valid 300321Z - 300415Z
The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 574, 575 continues.
SUMMARY...Tornado risk appears likely to be maximized in a narrow
zone from southwestern to east-central Mississippi over the next
hour.
DISCUSSION...Latest radar loop shows a band of generally small, but
rotating cells moving northeastward at around 35 kt, in a band
extending from roughly Lincoln County in southwestern Mississippi,
to Newton/Neshoba/Kemper Counties in east-central Mississippi.
While generally small in size, a few of these cells have shown
rather pronounced low-level rotation (rotational velocity around 40
kt). Given the favorable background environment, this appears
likely to be a favored zone for a stronger tornado over the next
hour or so.

SPC Center Public Severe Weather Outlook (PWO)
Public Severe Weather Outlook
PUBLIC SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0720 PM CST TUE NOV 29 2022
...Severe thunderstorms expected over parts of the southeast US this
evening and overnight...
* LOCATIONS...
Central Mississippi
Extreme northeast Louisiana
Far west-central Alabama
* HAZARDS...
Several tornadoes, a few intense
Scattered damaging winds
Isolated large hail
* SUMMARY...
The potential for tornadoes, some of which could be strong,
damaging wind gusts, and large hail will continue this evening
and overnight across parts of the Southeast.
Preparedness actions...
Tornadoes at night can be particularly dangerous because they
are usually fast-moving and difficult to see. Stay tuned to
NOAA Weather Radio, weather.gov, or other media for watches and
warnings. A tornado watch means that conditions are favorable
for tornadoes to form during the next several hours. If a tornado
warning is issued for your area, move to a place of safety,
ideally in a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of a
sturdy building.

SPC Nov 30, 2022 0100 UTC Day 1 Convective Outlook
SPC 0100Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0659 PM CST Tue Nov 29 2022
Valid 300100Z - 301200Z
...THERE IS A MODERATE RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PARTS OF
EXTREME NORTHEASTERN LOUISIANA...CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI...AND FAR
WEST-CENTRAL ALABAMA...
...SUMMARY...
The potential for tornadoes, some of which could be strong, damaging
wind gusts, and large hail will continue this evening and overnight
period across parts of the Southeast.
...Southeast...
Multiple pre-frontal supercells developed earlier this afternoon and
early evening in low-level confluence zones across the lower MS
Valley. While convection has recently shown a tendency to grow into
small clusters, there are still semi-discrete and embedded
supercells ongoing this evening from far northeastern LA into
central MS and west-central AL. 00Z observed soundings from JAN/BMX
show a favorable low-level kinematic environment for continued
low-level rotation, although boundary-layer instability remains
weak. Tornadoes will be possible with any supercell that can remain
surface based. Given the strength of the low-level flow shown on
recent VWPs from KGWX/KBMX, parts of central/eastern MS into western
AL may have the best potential for strong tornadoes this evening.
Isolated large hail and scattered damaging winds will also remain a
concern.
Greater severe probabilities have been focused along and south/east
of ongoing severe thunderstorms with this update. The severe threat
will gradually shift eastward across the Southeast overnight.
Convection will eventually outpace the low-level moisture return
with eastward extent across AL into western GA, with activity
possibly becoming slightly elevated. But, at least an isolated
threat for damaging winds and a few tornadoes will probably continue
across these areas. Have therefore expanded the Slight and Marginal
Risks a little farther east in GA to account for where a line of
thunderstorms will probably be ongoing early Wednesday morning at
the end of the Day 1 period.
