CHAT AND SHOW GROUP
The next gathering of the group is to be in January on Saturday the 2nd at our new venue in the Ulverstone Recreation Centre in
Flora Street West Ulverstone. Drive into the car park closes to the river and look for a notice saying Show Society Office on
the verandah and use that entrance and continue to the end of the corridor through the door at the end and you are in the room.
It is the middle of the festive season and some may be away, but then maybe there will be amateur visitors in the area at the t
ime that are welcome to drop in for a chat. The afternoon kicks off at 2pm and drop in is from 2pm until 3.30 and all amateurs
are welcome, it is not a club just a social group.
We have afternoon tea and I ask at this time due to COVID-19 to please make your afternoon tea offering a small one, and in a c
ommercially produced product where all precautions are necessary for the production of goods as advised by government regulatio
ns.
Remember all amateurs are welcome to visit from anywhere as long as they are Covid free, and not been close to an overseas trav
eller or someone infected, and do not have any symptoms - if you do have symptoms don't call.
If you have any questions contact me on 0417 392 583.

NW Tassie Amateur Repeater Group Net
North West Amateurs have indicated they would like a local repeater net
So, on Wednesday nights at 2000hrs local, the NW Tassie Amateur Repeater Group, will conduct a net on VK7RMD 146.625, 141.3 ton
e.
This repeater is located on Mt Duncan behind Penguin and the repeater has a large coverage area from Smithton to Launceston and
into the back country.
We want it to be informal, but run by a net controller, so everyone can get a spot to chat about what they are up to, projects
they are working on, ideas, propagation, anything radio and electronic related and we will be staying away from politics, relig
ion and all the other no nos.
This is totally independent of any clubs and organisation, and its aim is to foster relations between amateurs, and keep the PA
s in the radios used and warm.
Anyone who can hear the net is welcome to join in

As we get to the end of the year we are back to normal in terms of our news segment, having to rely largely on reruns. What I c
an tell you though is that there are now only 12 sleeps to that visit by the man in red. If you havenâ€Öt yet started your Chri
stmas shopping it might be timely to get out and tend to that tomorrow.
We would like to extend our best wishes to Kevin VK7HKN, who is currently undergoing cardiac treatment, and also to Lyn VK7FROG
, who will have to watch over him afterwards. We will be waiting for your next weather report Kevin!
As mentioned last week we now give you a quick rundown on the meeting held last Saturday and the main topics covered.
The meeting started at 14:00 on the dot with 23 members and one visitor. This was quite a turn-out for the last meeting of the
year, although it was the first General Meeting since March after the COVID hiatus. After apologies were taken and the minutes
of the last meeting ratified, with no business arising, the correspondence was presented. This consisted of a document formalis
ing the WIN TV site occupation of the NTARC repeater VK7RTC specifying the lease period, and it was tabled for member scrutiny.
Several questions arose from this correspondence and answers were provided to membersâ€Ö satisfaction. The Treasurer then pres
ented his reports for the 8 months since March. Members were given time to peruse the paperwork and the reports were accepted.
A fine job by our Treasurer, Andreâ€Ö VK7ZAB keeping up with everything. Membership fees had already been discussed by the Comm
ittee, and there was no change for the coming year. Our activity managers who were present each gave a report on the past year,
and plans for the next.
In General Business, members agreed to forgo a January meeting, as a lot of people would still be on holiday, and also to conti
nue with the Friday only coffee mornings for the immediate future. The return to twice weekly mornings will be reviewed at a la
ter date.
With no other business or discussion, the meeting was closed at 14:25. The members then enjoyed a sumptuous afternoon tea, than
ks to contributions from our members.
2021 Membership fees – wow, the membership renewals are really rolling in. We say a big thank you to those members who have p
aid their 2021 membership fees.
Just a reminder that your 2020 membership expires on 31 December and if you havenâ€Öt renewed by that date you will then be lis
ted as an unfinancial member on the register.
In case you have forgotten, NTARCâ€Ös 2021 membership fees are $35.00 for a Full voting member and $5 additional for each Famil
y member that the voting member wishes to add to his or her primary membership.
As all listeners must be aware, the replacement of aging legacy equipment along with other ongoing care and maintenance of our
repeater systems does not come cheap. For you to be able to continue to enjoy this aspect of your hobby and for NTARC to contin
ue to provide this great network, we need your support.
If you are not a member of NTARC please consider joining. If you have been a member in the past but have let that membership la
pse for any reason, please consider re-joining. In either case, an application form can be found at the clubroom.
If club membership is not your cup of tea, we fully understand. In those circumstances, perhaps you might care to make a direct
donation to our repeater fund, rather than pay a yearly subscription. If so, we would be happy to receive your contribution, e
ither in person at a club meeting or coffee morning, or by post to PO BOX 275 Launceston 7250. Any donation will gladly be acce
pted. All donations will be officially receipted and noted accordingly against the repeater project.
Now over to Nic VK7WW to give you a run down on the Tech net session held last Wednesday 9th December 2020. And Nic says:
â€The TestNet on 3580 at 7pm had 4 stations on Net
? Ross, VK7ALH continues testing his double size ZS6BKW Antenna with stunning results.
? Phil, VK7ZPD was using different power levels and posted a pic of his CW key on Discord.
? Andrew VK7DW now has his broadband (receiving) HERMES Loop antenna up and running. Hurrah!
? VK7ALB, Peter called in with an ICOM 730, testing a modified FL2100 amplifier.
? VK7Bunny Rabbits, Bernie, called in to give signal reports; and
? VK7KT Graham also gave out signal reports.
? Alvin VK7ADQ/P2 gave a quick call and posted a pic of his Bushcraft antenna on Discord.
? VK3VBI, Ron â€The Mayor of Caramutâ€uary General meeting.
Coffee mornings – currently every Friday in the NTARC Club rooms. Catch up time is from 10.00 am to noon and we look forward
to seeing you all.
These coffee events in the past have been normally a good opportunity to collect your QSL cards. Currently we have a few cards
awaiting collection from past deliveries.
Christmas and New Year closure – the last day the Club will be open in 2020 for coffee mornings will be Friday 18th December.
We re-open on Friday 8th January 2021.
This gives all members and especially the team that set up each week some down time to celebrate with family and friends.
Finally
A reminder to all members that if you have any items of news you would like added to our weekly roundup, no matter how trivial,
then please email me at the following address ntarc.emails @ gmail.com , all items to be received no later than 17:00 on the F
riday prior to the Broadcast.
Your continued cooperation in this regard will be greatly appreciated.
We will bring you all such contributions next Sunday morning.
