Central America recorded several low-to-moderate earthquakes yesterday, Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Regional geological institutes, including Guatemala's [INSIVUMEH] and the Costa Rican [Red Sismológica Nacional (RSN)], reported the following localized events:

* Magnitude 3.3: Occurred at 19:12 local time with an epicenter in the Sacatepéquez Department; it was felt in various locations across central Guatemala.
* Magnitude 3.0: Located in the Pacific Ocean, roughly 33 km southwest of Iztapa.
* Magnitude 2.9: Registered 18 km north of Iztapa. [1, 2]

* Magnitude 3.3: Registered by the RSN at 22:59 local time, centered 13 km north of Cóbano, Puntarenas at a shallow depth of 10 km. [3]

* Magnitude 2.4: Located 22 km northwest of Punta Cosigüina.
