However, the region remains highly vulnerable to a stark dual weather pattern: standard
Tropical Wave activity is triggering severe flood warnings in the south, while El
Niño-induced drought continues to cause extreme heat alerts in the north.

This wave is actively cutting across the southern half of the istmo tomorrow. Its
interaction with the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and a broad regional
low-pressure system is driving heavy tropical downpours, strong lightning, and

The Caribbean Low-Pressure Gyre: Broad atmospheric instability over the southwestern
Caribbean Sea continues to pump a continuous flow of deep moisture and accelerated
trade winds directly into the Atlantic coastlines of Panama, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua.

1. Southern Region: Panama & Costa Rica (High Flood & Mudslide Risk)
Panama: The National Civil Protection Service (SINAPROC) has issued a countrywide
Prevención Notice for Heavy Rainfall and Significant Thunderstorms valid through
tomorrow afternoon. Extreme caution is urged for the Western and Caribbean provinces
(Bocas del Toro, Ngäbe-Buglé, Chiriquí, Veraguas, Colón, and Guna Yala), where soils
are saturated above 65risking flash floods and swollen rivers.
Costa Rica: The National Meteorological Institute (IMN) warns of extreme soil
saturation levels between 90nd 100long the Caribbean slopes and Northern Zone.
Any additional afternoon rainfall will immediately trigger river overflows
(e.g., Sixaola and Sarapiquí) and landslides across mountain highways.
2. Northern Region: El Salvador, Guatemala & Honduras (Heatwaves & Drought)
El Salvador: The Ministry of Environment (MARN) maintains a strict watch on the
country's third meteorological drought period of the year. An intense El Niño-driven
heatwave will peak tomorrow, pushing temperatures between 38°C and 42°C in eastern
and paracentral zones.
Guatemala: INSIVUMEH reports a persistent 25eficit in normal August rainfall due
to a prolonged canícula (mid-summer drought). While mornings will be dangerously hot
and dry, extreme solar radiation will trigger isolated, brief, but highly severe
convective storms late in the evening along the volcanic chain, capable of producing
destructive 80 km/h microburst winds.
Marine and Coastal ConditionsA Hazardous Sea Advisory remains active across the
entire Central American Caribbean coastline tomorrow. Accelerated trade winds are
generating rough seas with wave heights ranging from 1.5 to 3.1 meters (5 to 10 feet),
coupled with dangerous rip currents. Navigation for small fishing vessels, artisanal
boats, and recreational watercraft is highly restricted.
