No active hurricanes, tropical storms, or tropical depressions exist over the Eastern Pacific basin near Central America, and none are projected to form over the next seven days . The National Hurricane Center (NHC) confirms that major active systems, such as Hurricane Lala, remain thousands of miles away in the Central Pacific near Hawaii, moving westward away from the American continent.
Tomorrow, the weather along the Pacific coastline of the istmo will be defined by a sharp geographic contrast: severe late-afternoon convective thunderstorms in the south (Panama and Costa Rica) driven by the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), and an intense meteorological drought and heatwave in the north (El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras) sustained by El Niño .

1. Southern Pacific Slope: Panama & Costa Rica (Flash Flood & Lightning Risks)
The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) remains pinned tightly against the southern Pacific coastline, trapping high levels of marine boundary layer moisture .

    The Outlook: Suffocatingly humid mornings will see ambient temperatures climb to between 31°C and 34°C, pushing localized heat indices past 40°C.
    Hazards: Strong diurnal heating will trigger rapid, explosive convective downpours and intense cloud-to-ground lightning between 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Localized urban flooding and sudden surges in rapid-response rivers are expected, specifically targeting Chiriquí and Veraguas (Panama), as well as the Central and South Pacific cantons (Costa Rica) .

2. Northern Pacific Slope: El Salvador & Guatemala (Severe Heatwave & Tectonic Drought)
Atmospheric conditions across the northern Pacific shelf continue to be heavily suppressed by a dry air mass and strong high-pressure anomalies reinforced by El Niño, which act as a shield to rip apart incoming tropical moisture.

    The Outlook: Dangerous, oppressive heat will peak tomorrow. El Salvador's Ministry of Environment (MARN) warns that maximum temperatures will consistently hold between 38°C and 42°C across coastal plains and eastern river valleys. Guatemala's INSIVUMEH confirms a persistent 25œumulative rainfall deficit for the current cycle.
    Hazards: While 90¨f the day will remain completely dry, the extreme thermal energy stored in the boundary layer will detonate isolated, violent convective cells right at sunset along the volcanic chain. These sudden storms can produce destructive 80 km/h (50 mph) microburst winds, flash downbursts, and falling trees.

  Pacific Marine, Surf, and Tidal States

    Sea Conditions: Safe and favorable for commercial transit and deep-sea fishing. Significant wave heights in open waters will average a moderate 1.0 to 1.5 meters (3 to 5 feet), driven primarily by long-period southwest swells traveling across the basin.
    Coastal Hazards: Extreme caution is advised near river mouths and estuaries during the late afternoon. Heavy inland storm runoff from southern mountain basins will collide with high tides, creating localized turbulent undertows and hazardous crosscurrents.
