I have been using a 2el Doppler DF aerial for many years on 2m DF fox hunts,
but occasionally have trouble with it, & had to revert to just the FT290r &
it's case screened telescopic aerial. This has been surprisingly successful!

WHAT U HAVE TO DO
1/ To reduce any wrong signal pickup, remove all leads, mic & headphone etc.
2/ Hang the rig on its strap around your neck, tune to Fox frequency, adjust
volume & squelch etc.
3/ Set height of the telescopic aerial for a mid S meter reading.
4/ Turn around using your body as a signal screen, note the direction for min &
max S meter readings.
5/ If the maximum is opposite the minimum, for at least 2 readings, taken a few
meters apart, you should be able to trust that the Fox is in the maximum
reading direction.
6/ Built up areas are full of reflections, e.g. Metal fences, Telegraph wires,
Street lamps etc, so do allow for some false readings!
IN USE
I have won 2 fox hunts his way so far, but it does help if someone else also
agrees with the direction readings on their rig.
See tech Bul "Doppler DF Aerial Design" & "4 Aerial Doppler RDF".
Why Don't U send an interesting bul?
