Short Range Forecast DiscussionNWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD400 AM EDT Wed Aug 07 2019Valid 12Z Wed Aug 07 2019 - 12Z Fri Aug 09 2019...Severe weather and heavy rainfall possible across parts of the East andthe Upper Midwest on Wednesday, and the Ohio Valley on Thursday......Multiple rounds of heavy rainfall and potential flash flooding expectedfrom eastern Kansas into Missouri......Heat advisories in effect for parts of the south-central U.S. and theNorthwest...Showers and thunderstorms along and ahead of a cold front across the OhioValley overnight will continue into Wednesday as the front moves into theEast. Storms will have the potential to produce severe weather and heavyto excessive rainfall. Both SPC and WPC have slight risks for severestorms and flash flooding, respectively, on Wednesday across portions ofthe Mid-Atlantic into the Northeast. A reinforcing cold front behind thisone will bring showers and storms to the Upper Midwest into the OhioValley through Thursday, with again, the threat for severe weather andheavy rainfall.A series of upper level disturbances interacting with a stationary surfacefront will result in multiple rounds of strong to severe storms and heavyrainfall from portions of the Central Plains into the middle MississippiValley. A complex of storms moving through this morning should dimishduring the day, with a second round expected to fire Wednesday night, andagain on Thursday night. Storms may target the same area each day withpotential for multi-day rainfall totals of several inches from easternKansas to western Missouri and an elevated threat for flash flooding.Hot and humid conditions are expected through this week for parts of thesouth-central U.S. underneath a strong upper level ridge. Heat advisoriesare in place for portions of the southern and central Plains into thelower Mississippi Valley. Wednesday will be another hot day for parts ofthe interior Northwest where heat advisories are also in effect. A gradualcooling trend is expected west of the Rockies after Wednesday though as asystem aloft slides east from the eastern Pacific.
